Nigerian troops have foiled an attempted terrorist attack in Rumirigo, Askira-Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, recovering a pistol and seven rounds of 9mm ammunition.
The operation was carried out by troops of the 115 Task Force Battalion in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
According to security sources cited by counter-insurgency publication Zagazola Makama, the incident occurred at about 11:10 p.m. on August 29, when troops positioned in an ambush encountered suspected terrorists in the area.
The troops reportedly responded with coordinated and disciplined fire, forcing the attackers to retreat.

A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of one pistol and seven rounds of 9mm ammunition. The recovered items have been secured by the 115 Task Force Battalion for further investigation and action.
Security sources said the situation across the theatre remained relatively calm, although the threat from terrorist groups remains unpredictable.
The development comes weeks after troops of Operation Hadin Kai reportedly killed 26 terrorists while thwarting another attack in Borno State.
