
Three sisters from the same family have drowned after the boat they were travelling in capsized at Tiga Dam in Tudunwada Local Government Area of Kano State.
The tragic incident reportedly occurred at about 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, throwing the Yalwan Rugu-Rugu community into mourning.
The victims were identified as Murjanatu, Atikatu and Bilkisu, popularly known as Amira. The three girls were said to be members of the same family and residents of the community.
The incident was confirmed by the Chairman of Tudunwada Local Government Area and Kano State Chairperson of the Association of Local Government Chairmen of Nigeria (ALGON), Hajiya Sa’adatu Salisu Soja.

In a condolence message, Soja expressed sympathy to the bereaved family and the people of Yalwan Rugu-Rugu over what she described as a painful loss.
She prayed for Allah to forgive the deceased and grant their families the strength to cope with the tragedy.
As of the time of filing this report, there was no official statement from the Kano State Police Command or the Kano State Fire Service regarding the incident.
The circumstances surrounding the boat accident and whether any rescue operation was carried out remain unclear.
