Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have killed two suspected kidnappers and rescued a professional truck driver who was abducted in the state.
The police said the operation was carried out by its Anti-Kidnapping Unit following intelligence gathering on the activities and location of the suspected criminal gang.
The truck driver was reportedly kidnapped on August 25 at about 11:10pm in the Ajibawo area of Ibese, Ogun State.
Police operatives later traced the suspects to their hideout along the Papalanto–Ilaro Road, where a gun battle reportedly ensued. Two suspected kidnappers were killed, while other members of the gang escaped with gunshot injuries.
During a search of the hideout, officers reportedly recovered two AK-47 rifles, 25 rounds of live ammunition, two mobile phones and ₦2 million suspected to be proceeds from criminal activities.

The bodies of the two suspects were deposited in a morgue for autopsy, while security operatives intensified efforts to track down the fleeing members of the gang.
The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni, commended the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for the operation and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes.
Residents were also urged to remain vigilant and provide credible information to security agencies, particularly concerning persons seeking treatment for gunshot wounds.
