Two men suspected of robbery have reportedly been killed by a mob in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
The incident occurred on Sunday morning along Ekpo Abasi Road, near Yellow Duke Street in Calabar South Local Government Area.
According to the police, the two men were allegedly apprehended by residents after they were suspected of attempting to snatch mobile phones from people in the area.
The location is reportedly known for incidents of petty and armed robbery, raising concerns among residents about security in the area.
The Cross River State Police Command said it was yet to establish the identities of the deceased, adding that preliminary investigations had commenced to determine the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

Police spokesperson, ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata, said officers visited the scene and documented the incident.
He added that the remains of the deceased had been evacuated with the assistance of relevant local government authorities and taken for appropriate preservation.
The police command condemned the killing and urged residents not to take the law into their own hands.
The command advised members of the public to hand suspected criminals over to the police or other lawful authorities for proper investigation and prosecution.
Authorities reiterated that suspected offenders are entitled to due process and that no individual has the right to impose punishment outside the law.
