At least five residents have been killed and several others abducted after armed bandits reportedly attacked three communities in Wurno Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The affected communities are Dinawa, Munƙi and Gidan Dare.
According to community sources, the attackers took advantage of the heavy rainfall on Tuesday night to invade the communities while residents were indoors seeking shelter from the storm.
The attack on Dinawa reportedly began around 10:30 p.m., with the assailants moving from house to house, looting valuables and destroying properties.
A resident said the attackers arrived while the rain was heavy, making it difficult for residents to anticipate the invasion.
Five people were reportedly killed during the attack, while an unspecified number of residents were abducted. The exact number of those missing remained unclear as families continued efforts to account for their relatives.
