The Edo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested nine suspects, including a 58-year-old grandfather, over alleged involvement in drug trafficking and possession across the state.
The suspects, comprising five males and four females, were apprehended during operations conducted at various drug hotspots in Edo State.
The State Commander of Narcotics, Dr Mitchell Ofoyeju, disclosed the arrests in a statement made available to journalists in Benin City.
Among those arrested was 58-year-old Musa Muhammed, a native of Bauchi State, who was allegedly found in possession of cannabis sativa, Loud and Colorado.
Also arrested was 17-year-old Anna Agbona from Edo State, who was allegedly found with 25 grams of Tramadol.
Other suspects identified by the agency include Ebere Anthony, 55, from Delta State, who was allegedly found with 1.5kg of cannabis sativa, and Gift Oliseyenum, 31, also from Delta, who was allegedly in possession of cannabis sativa, Loud, Colorado and methamphetamine.
Boniface George, 27, was reportedly arrested with 195 grams of cannabis sativa, while Muzamilu Mustapha, 28, allegedly had Loud and cannabis sativa.

Faustina Peter, 27, and Chucks Odili, 36, were also arrested with quantities of Loud, Colorado and methamphetamine, while Julius Enebuli, 42, was allegedly found with cannabis sativa, Loud and Colorado.
Ofoyeju commended the officers involved in the operation, describing the arrests and seizures as part of the command’s efforts to combat illicit drug activities in the state.
He said the agency would continue its investigations and pursue prosecution of suspects found culpable, while urging members of the public to support the fight against drug trafficking by reporting suspicious activities.
