A woman identified as Innocent Serah has allegedly stabbed her husband, Innocent Nwaoji, to death in Umuokereke Ngwa, Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday night, August 8, 2026, leaving residents of the community shocked.
According to reports, Nwaoji was allegedly stabbed while he was asleep.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, and it is yet to be established what may have led to the alleged attack.
A community member, David Amaraizu, confirmed the incident, saying residents were unaware of any disagreement between the couple before the incident.
Amaraizu disclosed that the couple got married in December 2025 and had been married for only about eight months before the tragedy occurred.
He added that the suspect had been arrested and was currently in police custody, while the deceased’s remains had been deposited at a morgue.

When contacted, the Abia State Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, said she would respond to enquiries.
However, an official statement from the police was still being awaited at the time of reporting.
The incident comes months after the Abia State Police Command confirmed the arrest of another woman in Umuahia in February 2026 over the alleged stabbing death of her husband, an Immigration officer.
Police said the suspect was being interrogated by the State Criminal Investigation Department in connection with a murder case.
The latest incident remains under investigation as authorities work to establish the circumstances surrounding Nwaoji’s death.
