The family of a 42-year-old Islamic teacher allegedly killed by suspected Sara-Suka gang members in Bauchi State has raised alarm over delays in the arrest of those responsible, calling for urgent justice.
According to the family, the victim was attacked and fatally stabbed about a week ago, yet no suspects have been apprehended despite claims that those involved are well known within the Karofi Madaki community.
Speaking to journalists, the deceased’s sister, Jamila Dauda, expressed frustration over what she described as slow progress by security agencies. She warned that the delay is eroding the family’s confidence in the justice system.
Jamila explained that her brother was ambushed while returning home, following a dispute linked to political campaign posters placed on a family property without full consent.
She alleged that tensions had escalated in the weeks leading up to the incident, including threats reportedly made against the victim.

“He was stabbed multiple times and died before he could receive medical attention,” she said. “Those responsible are still moving freely. We are calling for justice. If they are not brought to book, it will only encourage more violence.”
The deceased was described as a respected Islamic teacher and the family’s primary provider, known for mentoring young people in the community. He is survived by his wife and five children.
The family has appealed to Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed and the Commissioner of Police to ensure the swift arrest and prosecution of the suspects, stressing that justice would serve as a deterrent against similar crimes.
Meanwhile, the Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspects. The Police Public Relations Officer stated that operatives are actively tracking the individuals and will continue pursuing all credible leads until arrests are made.
