The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with two separate killings that occurred in different parts of the state, sparking renewed concerns over violence and jungle justice.
In the first incident, a 51-year-old man, Monday Chiroma, lost his life after being attacked by a group of individuals in Dandango community over allegations of witchcraft.
According to police reports, the assailants accused Chiroma and another resident, Yelwa Bango, of bewitching a young woman identified as Jamila Anthony.
The attack reportedly took place late at night on July 20. Both victims were rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi for treatment.
However, Chiroma was later confirmed dead, while Bango survived after receiving medical care.
Police spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed that three suspects Danjuma Anthony (25), Ayuba Anthony (22), also known as Babaru, and Christopher Adamu (34)—have been arrested in connection with the incident.

The suspects are said to have confessed during interrogation, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other accomplices who remain at large.
In a separate case, police arrested 21-year-old Al-Amin Hamisu Gidado over the fatal stabbing of Zahradeen Dan’Azumi Tanko, 25, in Unguwan Kur on July 25. Authorities revealed that Gidado, alongside another suspect identified as Yahaya Mu’azu, allegedly stabbed the victim in the back during an altercation.
Tanko was rushed to the same teaching hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Both cases have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.
Reacting to the incidents, the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, strongly condemned the acts of violence.
He urged residents to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and instead report suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.
The police command reiterated its commitment to ensuring justice is served and maintaining peace across the state.
