
Troops of Sector 7 under Operation ENDURING PEACE have successfully intercepted a suspected arms trafficking syndicate in Kaduna State, recovering several illegal weapons during the operation.
According to a statement released by the Nigerian Army, the intelligence-driven operation was carried out in the early hours of Monday at the Samaru Checkpoint in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area.
Acting on credible intelligence, the troops stopped an ash-coloured Mercedes-Benz suspected to be transporting illicit arms from Jos, Plateau State, to Niger State.
A thorough search of the vehicle led to the discovery of three locally fabricated AK-47 rifles and four submachine guns concealed within.
During the operation, one of the suspects attempted to flee but was apprehended after being wounded. He was immediately evacuated to a medical facility in Kafanchan, where he is currently receiving treatment.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the weapons were allegedly supplied by two suspected arms dealers based in Jos and were being transported to a yet-to-be-identified recipient in Niger State.
The Nigerian Army described the interception as a significant breakthrough in the fight against illegal arms proliferation and criminal networks threatening national security.
The military further reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with other security agencies to curb insecurity across the country.
It also urged members of the public to support ongoing operations by providing timely and credible information that could aid in tracking criminal activities.
This latest development highlights ongoing efforts by security forces to dismantle arms trafficking routes and enhance safety across affected regions.
