The kidnappers reportedly marched four captives through the rugged terrain of Jikoko Hills towards the Ushafa Forest in an attempt to evade security forces.
However, after an intense manhunt that lasted into the early hours of July 10, police operatives intercepted the suspects around the forest axis. Upon sighting the advancing officers, the kidnappers opened fire, leading to a heavy exchange of gunfire.
The police, leveraging superior tactics, overpowered the criminals, forcing them to abandon the victims and flee deeper into the forest.
All four abducted individuals were rescued unharmed and safely reunited with their families, while security operatives have continued combing the area in pursuit of the fleeing suspects.
The FCT Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding residents and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities.
