
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has assured residents of maximum security before, during, and after the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration, as authorities intensify efforts to maintain peace and prevent crime across Abuja.
The Command has activated a joint security operation codenamed “Operation Sweep FCT”, involving the Police, Military, the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Federal Road Safety Corps, the Nigerian Immigration Service, and other security stakeholders.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, the operation is structured across strategic sectors within the FCT, with continuous patrols, surveillance, and coordinated interventions aimed at deterring criminal activities and ensuring rapid response to emergencies.
She added that Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams have been deployed to conduct proactive sweeps of worship centres, recreational areas, and other public gathering points expected to experience high turnout during the festive period.
Intelligence-led raids have also been intensified on identified flashpoints and locations linked to illicit drug activities.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, has also directed Divisional Police Officers and Crime Officers to maintain heightened vigilance, professionalism, and visibility policing throughout the celebrations.
He warned against any form of misconduct, stressing discipline, courtesy, and respect in all public interactions.
Residents were urged to remain law-abiding, cooperate with security agencies, and report suspicious activities promptly using emergency lines 08032003913 and 07057337653.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, wishing all residents and Muslim faithful a peaceful and secure Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
