The Oyo State Government has lifted the curfew earlier imposed across 10 local government areas following a reassessment of the security situation linked to the recent abduction in Oriire Local Government Area.
The decision, announced on Saturday by the Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, comes days after restrictions were introduced to aid security agencies in rescuing abducted pupils and teachers.
According to the government, residents in the affected areas can now resume their normal daily activities, as authorities believe the situation has improved significantly.
“The curfew imposed on the 10 local government areas has been lifted after a thorough review of the security landscape. Citizens are free to go about their lawful activities,” the statement read.

Despite easing the restrictions, the state government emphasized that security operations remain ongoing.
Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the safe return of the abducted victims and preventing any recurrence of such incidents.
Residents were also urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing credible and timely information that could support security efforts.
The curfew, initially set at 16 hours daily, was imposed on June 24 and later extended as part of intensified efforts to manage the crisis.
While details of the rescue operations have not yet been fully disclosed, the government assured the public that it is working closely with security agencies to restore lasting peace and stability across the state.
