
A group of local hunters who participated in the rescue of kidnapped victims in Komu, Oyo State, have reportedly been detained by police following the operation.
Agidigbo FM Director, Dr Oriyomi Hamzat, shared details of the incident during a broadcast. According to him, the hunters launched a rescue mission after receiving information about the victims’ abduction by suspected kidnappers operating in the area.

He alleged that during the operation, the hunters exhausted their ammunition and sent some members to purchase additional supplies to continue the mission. The hunters sent to procure the ammunition were reportedly arrested by police officers shortly after obtaining the supplies.
Despite the setback, the rescue operation continued and led to the successful recovery of the kidnapped victims.
Hamzat further claimed that after the victims were freed, members of the hunters’ group visited the police station to seek the release of their detained colleagues but were unsuccessful. The police allegedly refused to release them.
The reported detention has sparked reactions among residents and concerned members of the public, with many calling for clarification from the authorities regarding the circumstances surrounding the arrests.
