The Recovered Firearms
The Oyo State Police Command has recorded a significant breakthrough in its ongoing fight against violent crime, following the arrest of five suspected armed robbers and the recovery of firearms and other incriminating items in Ibadan.
According to a statement released on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, the suspects were apprehended during a targeted intelligence-led operation at Gbeku Area, Olodo, in Egbeda Local Government Area.
The arrested suspects were identified as Ahmed Nafiu (43), Olukunmi Olaniyi (36), Femi Odeyinde (53), Jelili Akinade (50), and Muhideen Adio (27).
Items recovered from the operation include a pump-action gun, a single-barrel cut-to-size gun, eight live cartridges, a locally made bulletproof vest, bottles containing suspected charm-induced substances, and other criminal paraphernalia.
The police disclosed that the operation was carried out in the early hours of June 12, 2026, following credible intelligence linking the suspects to a criminal syndicate operating within the area.
In a related development, the Command also confirmed the arrest of four other suspects earlier in the week at Soka in Oluyole Local Government Area.

Investigations are currently ongoing to uncover the full extent of the suspects’ criminal activities and to track down other members of the syndicate still at large.
