
The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested no fewer than 12 suspected criminals, including alleged members of the Lakurawa, Mamudawa, and Boko Haram groups, over various offences ranging from terrorism and kidnapping to armed robbery and illegal possession of firearms.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Umar Hadejia, disclosed this while addressing journalists at the command headquarters in Birnin Kebbi.
According to him, the suspects are currently in police custody and will face prosecution upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations.
Hadejia revealed that three of the suspects identified as Muhammadu Bandi, Aliyu Abubakar, and Muhammadu Abubakar are believed to be affiliated with Mamudawa and Boko Haram groups.
Preliminary investigations, he said, linked the suspects to suspicious movements around Illo on June 4, 2026, which coincided with an attack that led to the killing of three officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC)

In a related development, the police arrested one Murtala Sani, a resident of Zazzagawa village, for allegedly supplying food items and drinks to suspected Lakurawa terrorists.
The command also apprehended another suspect, Faruku Muhammed, for the alleged rape of a 10-year-old girl.
The police commissioner noted that the command has intensified patrols and deployed tactical teams to identified flashpoints across the state to enhance security and safeguard residents.
He reassured the public of the command’s commitment to combating criminal activities and maintaining peace in Kebbi State.
