The Kebbi State Hisbah Board has arrested a group of youths in Zuru Local Government Area for allegedly staging a mock version of the Hajj pilgrimage.
According to a statement released on Sunday by the Board’s Director of Sharia, Judge Surajo Usman Kamba, the youths were apprehended after reports emerged that they were dressed in ihram garments and imitating Hajj rites on the Day of Arafah.
The Board stated that the individuals were attempting to replicate the sacred rituals being performed by Muslim pilgrims in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, an act described as a misrepresentation of Islamic worship.
Following their arrest, the youths were interrogated and subsequently educated on the true religious significance of Hajj.

Officials emphasized that the pilgrimage is a divinely prescribed obligation that must be carried out only at designated holy sites and within specific timeframes.
“The act of replicating Hajj rites outside the approved locations does not constitute a valid pilgrimage in Islam,” the statement noted.
The youths reportedly admitted their wrongdoing, expressed remorse, and pledged not to engage in such actions again.
They were later released after giving assurances of good conduct.
The Hisbah Board further urged residents, particularly young people, to seek proper religious knowledge and guidance to avoid actions that could misrepresent or trivialize Islamic practices.
