A woman suffered fractures to her arm and leg after a hit-and-run driver knocked her down along the Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos on Monday.
Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, said the incident happened at EFF Bus Stop inward Marwa. The unidentified motorist fled the scene immediately after the collision, leaving the victim helpless on the busy expressway.
LASTMA officials on duty for traffic monitoring responded quickly. They secured the area, moved the woman away from the road to prevent further danger, and contacted the Lagos State Ambulance Service, LASAMBUS, for emergency treatment.

Traffic officers also controlled vehicle movement around the scene to avoid a secondary accident and ensure smooth flow along the corridor. LASAMBUS personnel arrived shortly after and rushed the injured woman to General Hospital, Odan, where she was admitted for urgent medical assessment.
LASTMA General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, condemned the act and said fleeing accident scenes endangers lives and violates the law. “Every motorist bears an inherent civic and moral obligation to uphold the sanctity of human life. Fleeing the scene of an accident after causing injury is not only an abdication of responsibility but also a grievous affront to humanity and the rule of law,” he said.
Bakare-Oki reaffirmed LASTMA’s commitment to protecting lives through effective traffic management and rapid emergency response across Lagos. He praised the collaboration between LASTMA and LASAMBUS officials for their quick intervention.
The agency urged motorists to drive cautiously, obey traffic laws, and report road accidents or emergencies to authorities for prompt action.
