The Karim-Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State has imposed a 24-hour curfew following a spike in violence blamed on armed militia.
According to the council chairperson, Mrs Virginia Baba Bambur, the decision became necessary after repeated attacks on Wurkum communities around Didango, Mutum Daya Kodai, Gurum and nearby settlements. The assaults left several people dead, destroyed property, and forced many residents to flee their homes.

Fresh attacks launched on Thursday and Friday worsened the situation, prompting the immediate curfew across the affected communities. Mrs Bambur said the measure is meant to curb further loss of lives and protect residents.
She directed the Army, Police, Department of State Services, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to enforce the directive strictly. She added that the government would investigate the root cause of the crisis and ensure those responsible face justice.
Mrs Bambur urged residents to remain calm, assuring them that efforts are underway to restore peace and stability in the area.
