
Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a father and his son over the theft of a mobile phone and the illegal possession of firearms during coordinated intelligence-led operations in different parts of the state.
According to the police, the suspects identified as Fatai Adegbola and his son, Waliu Adegbola, were apprehended in connection with the theft of a mobile phone valued at ₦180,000 from a residential apartment in Imeko Afon.
The arrest followed a formal complaint received by the police last Friday, prompting swift tracking that led to the recovery of the stolen device.
A subsequent search of their residence reportedly uncovered a locally made pistol and a dane gun, raising further concerns over illegal arms possession.
In a related development, officers also arrested a 25-year-old suspect, Inioluwa Adesanya, in Ode Remo in connection with the theft of a dane gun belonging to a resident.
Investigations revealed the suspect allegedly posed as a carpenter’s assistant to gain access to the victim’s home before stealing the firearm.

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to the crime and claimed affiliation with a confraternity, while authorities also recovered additional illicit weapons during patrol operations around Ilisan Remo.
The Ogun State Police Command, under the Nigeria Police Force, confirmed that a total of four firearms, including locally fabricated pistols and dane guns, as well as live ammunition, were recovered across the operations.
All suspects and recovered exhibits have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.
The police reiterated their commitment to sustained operations against violent crime, cultism, armed robbery, and illegal possession of firearms across the state, while urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
