Police officers later arrived at the scene and evacuated the body of the deceased.
A police source disclosed that investigations had commenced into the killing, adding that authorities were still working to determine the motive behind the attack.
Meanwhile, anti-cultism platform Confra Naija claimed the incident was linked to cult-related violence. The group described the deceased, also known as Aboki De Junior, as a peaceful and hardworking businessman from Benue State.
Videos seen online showed sympathisers and residents gathered around the victim’s body, while a woman believed to be related to him was seen crying uncontrollably at the scene.
Efforts to get an official reaction from the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, CSP Abimbola Adebisi, were unsuccessful as calls and messages sent to her were not answered as of the time of filing this report.
The incident adds to the growing cases of suspected cult-related killings recorded across parts of Lagos State in recent years.
