The Abia State Police Command has arrested three suspects allegedly linked to the abduction of two toddlers from Rivers State, while successfully reuniting the children with their parents.
The suspects, identified as Vera Imiobong Udoyang, Chioma Duru Ukanwoke, and Ezinne Ukandu, were apprehended during a police operation carried out by operatives of the Akwete Divisional Police Headquarters in collaboration with local vigilantes.
According to the command’s spokesperson, DSP Maureen Chinaka, the operation followed credible intelligence that led officers to the suspects in Abia State.

The rescued children three-year-old Caleb Tamunoye Paul and Joy David were reportedly abducted from Okrika in Rivers State.
Police investigations revealed that Vera Udoyang allegedly lured the children away with doughnuts and soft drinks before taking them out of the community.
Authorities further disclosed that the case may be connected to an illegal child trafficking and adoption network. Preliminary findings showed that Vera was allegedly contacted by Chioma Ukanwoke, who was linked to Ezinne Ukandu in an arrangement believed to involve sourcing children for illegal adoption.
The police also revealed that another suspect, identified simply as Chioma and believed to be a welfare officer, is currently on the run.
All arrested suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Umuahia.
Meanwhile, the rescued toddlers have been safely reunited with their families.
The Commissioner of Police in the state urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and warned against allowing children to accept gifts or follow strangers.
Residents were also encouraged to promptly report suspicious activities involving children to security agencies.
