
Security forces operating under Sector 2 Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralised three suspected terrorists and arrested six alleged drug peddlers during coordinated operations across several communities in Katsina State.
The operations, carried out on May 9, 2026, covered Matazu, Musawa, Kankia, Dutsin-Ma and Malumfashi Local Government Areas.
According to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North West), Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, troops of the 171 Battalion stationed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) FUDMA acted on credible intelligence to launch an ambush along the Matazu–Dutsin-Ma axis.
During the operation, three terrorists were neutralised, while troops recovered two AK-47 rifles with loaded magazines, one motorcycle, three cutlasses and assorted charms.
In another operation, troops working alongside the Katsina State Community Watch Corps stormed terrorist enclaves in Torcachi, Giginya and Tashar Ganji villages located in Matazu, Musawa and Kankia LGAs.

The terrorists reportedly fled the areas after abandoning their camps as security operatives advanced into the communities.
Security personnel also recovered 175 rustled livestock during the clearance operation.
The recovered animals were said to have been secured and would be handed over to the appropriate local authorities in Matazu LGA.
Meanwhile, troops attached to FOB Malumfashi, in collaboration with operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), carried out a targeted raid in Kauyan Dawo community of Malumfashi LGA.
The operation led to the arrest of six suspected drug dealers identified as Sani Rabiu, Umar Nasiru, Abulkubus Aminu, Abdullahi Halilu, Abubakar Rabiu and Abubakar Dahiru.
Recovered substances included 82.5 grams of suspected Cannabis Sativa, 15.7 grams of Exol-5 and 1.8 grams of D5.
Authorities confirmed that the suspects and seized substances had been transferred to the NDLEA Malumfashi Area Command for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Joint Task Force urged residents to continue supporting security agencies with credible and timely information to strengthen ongoing operations against terrorism and other criminal activities in the region.
