
The Nigerian Army has confirmed the death of 28-year-old Lieutenant Felix Ademe Isaac, who was killed while leading troops during the rescue operation that secured the release of 44 abducted pupils and teachers from Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The victims regained their freedom on July 10 after spending 56 days in captivity, following a coordinated operation involving the military and other security agencies. However, military authorities disclosed that Lieutenant Isaac lost his life in the early phase of the mission while carrying out his duties.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State paid tribute to the late officer, describing his sacrifice as a testament to the courage and dedication of Nigeria’s security personnel. He also extended condolences to the officer’s family and the Nigerian Army.
Lieutenant Isaac, who was born on August 25, 1997, was buried with full military honours at the 23rd Armoured Brigade Cemetery in Yola, Adamawa State, on the same day the rescued victims regained their freedom.
The Nigerian Army praised the fallen officer for his bravery and selfless service, noting that his sacrifice contributed significantly to the successful rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers. The military also reaffirmed its commitment to combating insecurity and protecting the lives of Nigerians despite the risks faced by personnel in the line of duty.
