
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 29-year-old man, Sadiq Abubakar Yusuf, for the alleged sexual assault of his 14-year-old niece in Guru Village, Bauchi.
According to a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, the case was reported at the ‘B’ Division, GRA, Bauchi, on May 15, 2026, at about 5:00 pm. The complainant, a 45-year-old man, told police that the suspect lured his daughter outside their home in the early hours of May 14 and allegedly assaulted her.
Police operatives responded immediately after receiving the report. The suspect was arrested, and the victim was taken to the Police Clinic for medical examination and care.

Following the arrest, the suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Bauchi State Police Command reaffirmed its zero-tolerance stance on crimes against minors and women. The command assured the public that the case would be handled professionally and in line with the law.
Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, urged residents to keep reporting cases of abuse and other criminal activities to the nearest police station to ensure prompt action.
