The family of 49-year-old Globacom manager, Olaoluwa Adetona, is still searching for answers more than 16 months after he reportedly disappeared while on official duty in Imo State.
Adetona, a Roll-out Manager with Globacom, reportedly went missing on May 6, 2025, after travelling to a work site with two expatriates.
According to his family, an unidentified person answered his phone later that evening, after which they were informed that he had allegedly been kidnapped. The two expatriates were reportedly released, but Adetona has remained missing.
The family also alleged that ransom demands were made and assurances given that he would be released, but there has been no confirmed information about his whereabouts.
Concerned about the prolonged uncertainty, the Gani Fawehinmi Memorial Organisation (GAFAMORG) and the National Coalition Against Mass Abductions, Atrocities, Killings, Extra-Judicial Killings, Mob Actions and Impunity (NCAMKI) have appealed to Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun to intervene.
In an open letter dated September 9, 2026, the organisations called for a comprehensive investigation to establish whether Adetona is alive, was abducted, is being held somewhere or was killed.

They also urged the police to investigate the circumstances surrounding the recovery of Adetona’s vehicle, which the family reportedly said showed signs of gunshots.
The groups called for forensic examination of the vehicle and investigation of relevant phone records, location data, alleged ransom demands and financial transactions. They also urged authorities to obtain statements from the two expatriates who were reportedly released.
The organisations stressed that their intervention was not an accusation against Globacom, the police, the expatriates or any individual, but a demand for the truth to be established.
For Adetona’s wife and three children, the prolonged disappearance has brought emotional and financial hardship. The groups said the children continue to ask the painful question: “Where is Daddy?”
They further alleged that Adetona’s father died in April 2026 after suffering distress over the unresolved case, while his mother is seriously ill.
GAFAMORG and NCAMKI urged the police to intensify efforts to locate Adetona if he is still alive and, if he is dead, provide his family with credible information about what happened and ensure that anyone found responsible is brought to justice.
