A 10-year-old girl who was reportedly abducted from her home in Jada Local Government Area of Adamawa State has been rescued after she was found abandoned in a neighbouring local government area.
The victim, identified as Ummi Jafar, was discovered at Mararaba Mbilla in Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area following a search operation launched by the Adamawa State Police Command.
According to the police, the child was allegedly taken from her residence in Jada by unidentified persons.
The command said its operatives responded promptly after receiving a report of the incident and immediately commenced efforts to locate the missing girl.
The Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday that the girl was eventually found abandoned at Mararaba Mbilla.
Nguroje said Ummi was taken to a medical facility for examination after she was rescued and was later discharged.
The police spokesperson added that the girl remained under police care as investigators worked to determine the circumstances surrounding her abduction.

He assured members of the public that efforts were ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the incident.
The command also pledged that anyone found to have been connected to the abduction would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The police urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide useful information that could assist investigators in unraveling the incident.
