The Yobe State Police Command has recorded significant operational achievements over the past year, securing 152 convictions and arresting 448 suspects across various criminal cases.
The Commissioner of Police, Usman Kanfani Jibrin, disclosed this during a press briefing held at the Command Headquarters in Damaturu.
According to the CP, the Command handled a total of 407 criminal cases within the period under review. These included 31 cases of murder, 35 rape cases, eight kidnapping incidents, 11 armed robbery cases, and 322 other offences.
Providing further breakdown, Jibrin revealed that out of the cases handled, 152 suspects were successfully convicted, while 127 cases are currently before competent courts. Additionally, 69 cases remain under investigation, 17 case files are awaiting legal advice, and 42 cases resulted in acquittal.
Highlighting key operational successes, the Commissioner noted that police operatives uncovered a suspected drug warehouse in Potiskum.

During the operation, a suspected drug baron was arrested, and several illicit substances were recovered, including eight cartons of assorted drugs, 1.5 Ghana-Must-Go bags filled with Tramadol and Exzol tablets, as well as ₦835,500 believed to be proceeds from drug trafficking.
He added that the operation met resistance from members of the syndicate, but officers successfully repelled the attack. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing suspects linked to the network.
In a separate operation, coordinated raids were carried out on criminal hideouts and drug joints in Jakusko Local Government Area.
This led to the arrest of 14 suspected drug dealers and users, with the recovery of over 300 sachets and packages of Tramadol, Indian hemp, Vega tablets, and other prohibited substances.
Reaffirming the Command’s commitment, Jibrin emphasized the continued focus on intelligence-led policing, proactive crime prevention strategies, and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.
