
The Commissioner of Police in Yobe State, Usman Kanfani Jibrin, has issued a strong warning to officers and operatives of the Command against engaging in unethical behaviours, including extortion and other corrupt practices while carrying out their duties.
The directive was delivered during an emergency meeting held at the State Command Headquarters in Damaturu.
The meeting had in attendance members of the Command’s Management Team, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and other senior officers.
In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the CP emphasized that supervisory officers would be held accountable for any misconduct committed by personnel under their jurisdiction.
He stressed the importance of discipline, professionalism, and adherence to established policing standards.
The Commissioner further instructed Divisional Police Officers to take full responsibility for activities within their divisions.

He highlighted the need for effective supervision, proper mentoring of personnel especially in weapon handling respect for human rights, and the promotion of community policing initiatives.
Additionally, officers were cautioned against interfering in civil matters beyond the constitutional responsibilities of the Police.
The CP urged all operatives to maintain civility and professionalism in their engagements with the public at all times.
To strengthen security across the state, DPOs were directed to intensify raids on criminal hideouts, ensure visible policing, and maintain continuous patrols within their areas of responsibility, while respecting the rights of law-abiding citizens.
The CP also reassured officers of the commitment of the Inspector-General of Police to improving personnel welfare, enhancing working conditions, and promoting capacity building in line with ongoing police reforms.
He concluded by calling on residents of Yobe State to continue supporting and cooperating with the Police in efforts to maintain peace, security, and public safety, reaffirming the Command’s dedication to protecting lives and property.
