The whereabouts of Nwosu Chikamso Jennifer, an Anambra woman who reportedly accused police officers of collecting ₦600,000 for her administrative bail, remain unknown after she was allegedly rearrested.
Jennifer had earlier contacted the Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Centre (RULAAC), alleging that she was detained for four days at the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, after police arrested her while searching for her brother, Nwosu Kenechukwu, who is wanted over alleged cult-related killings.
According to her account, the ₦600,000 was allegedly paid before her release on September 3, but she said no receipt was issued. She also alleged that her phone was seized without a property receipt.
The Anambra State Police Command denied demanding or collecting any money for her release. Police spokesman SP Tochukwu Ikenga said Jennifer was arrested because investigators allegedly established communication between her and her brother concerning the incident under investigation.

RULAAC later said Jennifer became unreachable after returning to the RRS Awkuzu on September 7. The group also alleged that the Commissioner of Police ordered her rearrest after she reported the matter to the rights organisation.
The police have not publicly clarified Jennifer’s current whereabouts or legal status, according to RULAAC.
The rights group is calling for an independent investigation and wants authorities to clarify where Jennifer is being held, the offence for which she was allegedly rearrested, whether she has been taken before a court, and whether she has access to her lawyer and family.
