The Rivers State Police Command has rescued a kidnapped victim and arrested a 23-year-old suspected kidnapper during an operation around the Eliozu–Rumuokoro axis of Port Harcourt.
The suspect, identified as Sunday Rufus from Ikwerre Local Government Area, was arrested after police operatives responded to a distress call about a kidnapping incident on September 24, 2026.

According to the police, the operatives pursued the fleeing suspects and intercepted them, leading to the rescue of the victim, identified as Emmanuel.

One AK-47 rifle, two rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and a white tricycle were reportedly recovered during the operation.
The Rivers State Police Command said efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the suspected kidnapping gang, while urging residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information to security agencies.
