
A tragic windstorm has claimed the lives of two children and left two others injured in Bashe Village, near Burra in Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
According to the Bauchi State Police Command, the incident occurred during a heavy downpour when five children sought shelter under a tree. The strong winds uprooted the tree, causing it to fall on them.
Police officers responded swiftly after receiving the report and rushed the victims to the Primary Health Care Centre in Bashe for treatment.

Two of the children were confirmed dead by medical personnel, while two others sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical care. One child escaped the incident without injuries.
The police said the bodies of the deceased were released to their families for burial in accordance with Islamic rites, while an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, expressed condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured children a speedy recovery.
The command also urged parents and guardians to educate children on the dangers of taking shelter under trees during storms and heavy rainfall, warning that such actions could lead to fatal consequences.
