The University of Calabar has suspended nine students for the 2026/2027 academic session over alleged examination misconduct.
The university’s Public Relations Unit disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists in Calabar on Monday.
According to the statement, the affected students received official suspension letters signed by the university’s Registrar, Dr Chukwuka Icha.
The suspension followed the approval by the university Senate of recommendations made by the Examination Misconduct Committee after considering the cases involving the students.
The university said the affected students are expected to return to the institution and continue their studies during the 2027/2028 academic session.

Five of the suspended students are from the Department of Theatre and Media Studies in the Faculty of Arts.
The others are students of Human Nutrition and Dietetics in the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, Geology in the Faculty of Physical Sciences, Pharmacology in the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, and Sociology in the Faculty of Social Sciences.
The university directed the Acting Chief Security Officer, deans, heads of departments and other relevant officials to take note of the suspension and ensure that the decision is fully implemented.
