The Cross River State Police Command has arrested four additional suspects in connection with the alleged vandalism and theft of facilities belonging to Akamkpa Quarry Limited, also known as Sterling Global.
The latest arrests were carried out on Thursday, August 27, 2026, by operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), Sector 2, Akamkpa/Ugep, in Obung Community, Akamkpa Local Government Area of the state.
The development followed a distress call from the Village Head of Obung Community, HRH Ntufam Elijah Clement Effiong, who alerted the police after youths reportedly began pursuing individuals suspected of belonging to a vandalism syndicate.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, the responding officers arrested four suspects identified as Michael Ochuche, 20; Elvis Enor Friday, 20; Theophilus Francis, 26; and Charles Vincent Etta, 23.
Police said two long iron poles and six iron reinforcement baskets were recovered from the suspects.

The latest arrests come shortly after the command announced the arrest of two other suspects, Kelvin Ignatius and Arnold Okon, in connection with the alleged vandalism.
The police said the arrests represent another breakthrough in efforts to dismantle the suspected network involved in the theft and destruction of critical infrastructure in the area.
The command added that investigations are ongoing to establish the level of involvement of the suspects and identify other individuals allegedly connected to the syndicate.
Commissioner of Police in Cross River State, Ajo-Geoffrey Ordue, commended the VCRU operatives for their swift response and praised the Obung Community leadership for providing information that assisted the police operation.
Ordue reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and stronger collaboration with local communities to safeguard critical infrastructure across the state.
The suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue, with the police assuring that anyone found culpable will face the law.
