Operatives of the Niger State Police Command have arrested two suspects over the alleged abduction of a four-week-old baby in Minna, the state capital.
The suspects, identified as 24-year-old Chidi Johnson, popularly known as “Yaron Pastor,” and 22-year-old Zainab Ibrahim, were apprehended following a swift police investigation into the incident, which occurred on July 14 around the Mobil Roundabout area.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasi’u Abiodun, the case was initially reported at the A Division Police Station, prompting detectives to launch an operation that led to Johnson’s arrest.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Zainab Ibrahim allegedly approached Johnson to procure a newborn after reportedly losing her pregnancy. Acting on this request, Johnson is said to have devised a plan to deceive an unsuspecting nursing mother.

He allegedly lured the mother with the promise of baby food items and assistance from a supposed benefactor, convincing her to follow him to an uncompleted building near the Mobil Roundabout with her infant.
Police reports indicate that after gaining the mother’s trust by offering snacks and soft drinks, Johnson took the baby under the pretense of playing with the child before fleeing through the back exit of the building on a waiting motorcycle.
Zainab Ibrahim was later arrested in connection with the crime, while the abducted baby was successfully rescued and reunited with the mother.
The police confirmed that investigations are ongoing and both suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of the case.
