Two people have been killed and seven suspects arrested following a violent clash between youths in Dass Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The incident occurred on Friday, September 4, 2026, after a 29-year-old tricycle rider, Abdulrahman Nuru, was allegedly attacked in the Tudun Wus area of Dass.
According to the Bauchi State Police Command, Nuru, a resident of the Bundot area, was intercepted and allegedly attacked with cutlasses by a group reportedly led by Ibrahim El-Safwan, popularly known as Jabala’i, from Bayan Fada.
Nuru was rushed to the General Hospital, Dass, where he was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.
His death reportedly triggered tension in the area, as youths from Bundot allegedly mobilised and moved towards Bayan Fada in what police described as a reprisal attack.
The confrontation later escalated into violence near an open space close to the Dass Central Motor Park. During the clash, 38-year-old Mukhtar Jibrin of Bayan Fada was reportedly stabbed.

Jibrin was taken to the General Hospital, Dass, before being referred to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi, where he was also pronounced dead.
Following the violence, police operatives from the Dass Division intervened and arrested seven suspects.
Those arrested include 20-year-old Umar Abubakar, identified by the police as the principal suspect, alongside Blus Garba, 19; Adamu Muhammad, 17; Hussaini Danjuma, 17; Hassan Danjuma, 17; Shuaibu Sani, 17; and Aliyu Abdullahi, 18.
The Police Commissioner, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has ordered a discreet and thorough investigation into the incident, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspects still at large.
The Commissioner condemned the killings and urged residents to remain calm and law-abiding, stressing that nobody should resort to taking the law into their own hands.
