
Suspected terrorists have launched another deadly attack on communities in Southern Kaduna, killing two residents and abducting at least seven others in Awon community, Kaduna State.
The incident, which occurred on Monday, has intensified fears among residents who say violence in the area is escalating with little or no relief.
The victims who lost their lives have been identified as Joseph Sule, popularly known as “Big Joe,” and Awilo Madugu. Meanwhile, seven others were reportedly abducted during the attack, including Gift Victor, Hannatu Yusuf, Salina Sam, Silvia Sam, Dogarah Maisamari, Hassana Bulus, and Joy Samaila.

A local source described the situation as alarming, noting that attacks have become frequent and have left residents living in constant fear. The source added that the persistent violence appears to be a deliberate attempt to displace communities from their ancestral homes.
Community leaders have expressed concern over what they described as a slow and inadequate security response to the recurring attacks. They are calling on the government and security agencies to urgently intervene, secure the release of the abducted victims, and strengthen security presence across vulnerable communities.
Residents say the latest assault has left many traumatized, worsening the already fragile security situation in Southern Kaduna. The incident further highlights growing concerns over threats to lives and livelihoods in parts of Kaduna State.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities are yet to release an official statement on the attack.
