Two people died on Monday morning after a trailer collided with a Toyota Corolla at Kwang community in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The crash occurred around 8:10 a.m. near a filling station in the community. Confirming the incident, Federal Road Safety Corps Public Education Officer for Plateau State, Peter Longsan, said five people were involved in the accident.
“Unfortunately, two people were killed during the incident. They were five people involved,” Longsan said.
He explained that police officers arrived at the scene before FRSC personnel and evacuated the bodies to the Plateau State Specialist Hospital. FRSC officials later cleared the road to restore free flow of traffic.

According to the FRSC, the crash was caused by reckless driving and excessive speeding. Longsan noted that many trailer drivers now use the bypass route after being restricted from roads within Jos metropolis, but often drive at dangerous speeds on the alternative route.
“We advise that if they are taking the bypass, they should move at a reasonable speed so that they don’t constitute danger to other road users,” he said.
The FRSC urged motorists to avoid speeding and to observe speed limits to prevent further loss of lives on Plateau roads.
