Two nationals of Benin Republic have been arrested in Ogun State over alleged burglary and theft of pumping machines in the Atan-Ota area.
The suspects, identified as Monday and Vovo, were apprehended by operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, also known as So-Safe Corps, following a distress call from residents.
The incident reportedly occurred at Ajambata, along Sokoto Road, Atan-Ota, where the suspects were allegedly found with pumping machines believed to have been stolen from a burgled location.
According to the Corps, both suspects are natives of Cotonou, Benin Republic, but reside in Atan.
During preliminary questioning, Monday reportedly said he had lived in Atan for several years, while Vovo disclosed that he moved to the area a few months ago.
Monday allegedly denied personally accompanying Vovo to remove the pumping machines but admitted that he often helped to find buyers for stolen items. Vovo was said to have confirmed the claim.
