Tragedy struck in Make community on the outskirts of Niger State after a truck crashed into a residential building, killing a housewife and her grandson.
The fatal incident occurred on Sunday morning along the Suleja-Minna Road when the truck reportedly suffered brake failure while heading towards Kaduna from the Minna axis.
According to sources, the driver jumped out of the vehicle after discovering the brake malfunction, leaving his assistant behind as the truck veered off the road and rammed into a house.
The victims were identified as Maryam Shuaibu and her 10-year-old grandson, who both died in the crash. Another girl from the family sustained injuries during the incident.

Angered by the tragedy, youths in the area staged a protest by blocking the Suleja-Minna Road and the road leading to Dikko Junction, causing heavy traffic congestion stretching into Suleja town and nearby communities.
Residents lamented that the same house had reportedly been hit by moving tankers on four previous occasions, blaming the repeated accidents on the poor condition of the federal highway.
The Abdullahi Shuaibu Maje later led a delegation from the state government to appeal to the protesters to reopen the highway.
The victims were subsequently buried according to Islamic rites, while the Police Area Commander in Suleja, ACP Muhammad Sani Musa, confirmed the incident.
