Residents of Arepo in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State were thrown into panic after a truck accidentally pulled down high-tension electricity lines, damaging two electricity poles and creating a serious safety hazard in the community.
The incident occurred at about 9 p.m. on Monday and affected the power infrastructure supplying the WiseBuyers Supermarket Distribution Transformer. The impact left one electricity pole leaning dangerously, while several high-tension cables were left hanging across the area, posing risks to motorists, pedestrians, nearby businesses and residents.
Following the incident, community leaders issued an urgent warning, advising residents to avoid the affected area and stay away from the damaged poles and exposed electrical cables. They cautioned members of the public not to touch, move or drive over the fallen or hanging power lines due to the danger of electrocution.
