
Six kidnapped victims have been rescued by troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA following a fierce encounter with suspected terrorists in Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The rescue operation took place on Wednesday, September 2, along the Wasagu-Ayu Road after security forces received credible intelligence about the presence of suspected terrorists around Mehinua Village.
According to reports, troops from Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, quickly mobilised to the area to disrupt the terrorists’ activities and secure the release of the victims.
Upon reaching the location, the troops engaged the suspected terrorists in an intense exchange of gunfire.
The soldiers, however, overpowered the attackers with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon the kidnapped victims and flee into the surrounding area.

All six victims were subsequently rescued unharmed.
The troops also recovered a vehicle from the scene and handed both the rescued victims and the vehicle over to relevant community authorities for further necessary action.
The successful operation highlights the importance of timely intelligence and rapid military response in combating kidnapping and other criminal activities along vulnerable routes in the North-West.
It also underscores ongoing efforts by security forces to protect communities, secure major access routes and restore public confidence in areas affected by terrorism and criminal activities.
