
Troops of Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD have neutralised two suspected terrorists during a patrol in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.
The encounter reportedly occurred at about 8:55 a.m. on September 14, 2026, when troops of the Civilian Intervention Battalion XVI encountered the terrorists while moving from Dekara towards the Gidan Zana and Sabon Gida areas.

Following the engagement, the troops recovered one HK 21 machine gun and 15 belted rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to dominate the area, disrupt terrorist activities and prevent armed groups from establishing freedom of movement across communities in the axis.
