Nigerian troops have raided suspected terrorist hideouts around Gumki in Arewa Dandi Local Government Area of Kebbi State, forcing the suspected terrorists to retreat towards the Nigeria-Niger border.
The operation was conducted in the early hours of September 14, 2026, by troops of 1 Battalion under Sector 2, following intelligence on suspected terrorist camps in the area.
According to security sources, the troops engaged the suspects in a gun battle, eventually forcing them to withdraw from the location.
During the operation, troops recovered an AK-47 rifle with an extra magazine, a PKT machine-gun magazine, 187 rounds of 7.62mm x 54 ammunition and 14 rounds of 7.62mm x 39mm ammunition.

Other items recovered included four motorcycles, two mobile phones, combat kits, assorted charms and ₦87,000 in cash.
The operation is part of ongoing military efforts to clear suspected terrorist hideouts and restrict the movement of armed groups around communities close to the Niger Republic border.
Troops have continued clearance operations and surveillance in the area to prevent the suspects from regrouping or returning to the affected locations.
