Troops of Sector 2, Operation Fansan Yamma, have reportedly killed more than 15 terrorists during a gun battle in Gamo community, Gummi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The operation followed a distress call received by the troops on Monday, alerting them to the presence and activities of armed bandits in the community.
According to reports, the troops engaged the terrorists in a fierce firefight after the attackers resisted pressure from the military. The sustained military response reportedly forced the terrorists to retreat into a nearby forest.
While more than 15 terrorists were said to have been killed in the operation, the number of security personnel who may have lost their lives remained unclear as of the time of filing this report.

Efforts to obtain confirmation from the Zamfara State Police Command were unsuccessful, as the Police Public Relations Officer reportedly did not respond to calls from journalists.
The development comes amid persistent security challenges in Zamfara, where banditry and terrorist activities have continued to disrupt communities, businesses and economic activities.
The military has continued operations across affected areas as part of efforts to weaken armed groups and restore security and peaceful coexistence in the state.
