Armed bandits on Tuesday night attacked Bakura town in Bakura Local Government Area of Zamfara State, shooting a resident, rustling cattle and carting away valuables during the raid.
Residents said the attackers shot a young man identified as Sufiyanu Anah before stealing an unspecified number of cattle and looting mobile phones and other personal belongings.
Among those reportedly affected was Umaru Mandi, the Bakura Ward Chairman under Governor Dauda Lawal’s political structure, whose mobile phones were seized during the attack.
The gunmen also reportedly confiscated the mobile phones of another resident, Tukur Sama’ila, popularly known as Tukur O C, as well as those of his wife, leaving many residents terrified.

Witnesses said the assailants operated freely in the community before fleeing with the stolen items.
A security analyst, Bakatsine, confirmed the attack and described it as another indication of the persistent insecurity confronting rural communities across northern Nigeria.
He expressed sympathy for the injured resident and wished him a speedy recovery while calling for lasting peace in the affected community.
The latest incident adds to a series of attacks that have continued to plague communities in Zamfara State, where armed groups have been blamed for killings, kidnappings, cattle rustling and the looting of property despite ongoing security operations.
