
Troops of the 27 Task Force Brigade have arrested 14 suspected ISWAP collaborators and smugglers in Kanama, Yunusari Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The suspects were reportedly intercepted at about 5am on October 2, 2026, by troops operating from the Forward Operating Base in Kanama.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the troops acted on intelligence regarding the movement of the suspects, who were travelling in five vehicles through an illegal route close to the military location.
Preliminary investigations reportedly showed that the suspects were involved in smuggling activities and were also suspected of having links with ISWAP terrorists.
Items recovered from them included a large quantity of fish, 19 mobile phones, nine ATM cards, one power bank and N129,250 in cash.

The 14 suspects and the recovered items have remained in military custody as investigations continue.
Authorities are expected to determine the extent of the suspects’ alleged involvement in smuggling and their suspected links with terrorist activities.
