A tragic incident has left residents of Aloko Bassa Local Government Area of Kogi State mourning after a toddler, identified as Saida Haruna, reportedly died after falling into a pit behind her family’s home.
The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday after the young girl returned from an Islamic school. According to reports, Saida went behind the house and bent down to look into the pit before losing her balance and falling inside.
The pit was reportedly dug by her brother and another boy.

The circumstances surrounding the incident have sparked shock and concern among residents and social media users, with many questioning the safety of leaving an open pit in a residential area.
The Kogi State Police Command has reportedly referred the matter to the Divisional Police Officer in the area for further information.
The incident has thrown the family and community into mourning, with sympathisers offering prayers and condolences to the bereaved family.
