A shocking case of human trafficking has emerged in Delta State, where a 19-year-old girl returned to Nigeria after allegedly having her womb removed by traffickers.
The incident was disclosed by the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, during a press briefing in Asaba.
According to the police, the victim’s ordeal began in September 2025 when she and two friends were lured with promises of traveling to Ivory Coast for prostitution.
They were reportedly recruited by a 47-year-old woman, Blessing Mongo, who linked them to other members of the trafficking network.
Days after arriving abroad, the victim said she was injected with an unknown substance and rushed to a hospital.

When she regained consciousness, she found her abdomen bandaged.
She was later brought back to Nigeria and abandoned in Lagos, from where she made her way home to Delta State.
Following a complaint by her mother, police launched an investigation and arrested two suspects. Medical examinations later confirmed that the girl’s womb had been removed without her consent.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, while authorities continue efforts to track down other suspects involved.
In a separate announcement, the police command warned it would no longer interfere in land disputes, urging residents to seek justice through the courts instead.
The disturbing incident highlights the dangers of human trafficking and the severe exploitation faced by vulnerable young women.
