
The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two police officers following the death of a commercial motorcyclist in Ibadan.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, the incident occurred on April 24, 2026, in the Moniya area of the city.
The officers, who were attached to the Kara Police Outpost, were reportedly carrying out an unauthorized stop-and-search operation when they intercepted the victim, identified as Sanni Salisu.

During the encounter, the motorcyclist suddenly developed what appeared to be an epileptic seizure, slumped on his motorcycle, and became unresponsive.
He was immediately rushed to a hospital in Akinyele, where medical personnel confirmed him dead.
The incident triggered outrage among residents, leading to the destruction of some property at the police station.
Following the development, the Commissioner of Police ordered the immediate arrest of the officers involved. They have since been taken into custody and are currently undergoing disciplinary procedures.
The police command assured the public that a thorough investigation is ongoing and that anyone found culpable will face the full weight of the law.
